Babies

Children can be enrolled in our service once they are 12 weeks old and have had their first two immunisations as per the National immunisation schedule.

Children aged between 12 weeks and 2 years are positioned in our butterfly room. This room is licensed to cater for 12 children each day and we have a minimum of 4 educators working in the room.

Our butterfly room educators focus on building secure and trusting relationships with each child to ensure they feel supported to achieve developmental milestones. Educators work with families to follow children’s individual routines to achieve a seamless transition between home and the centre. The room follows a flexible routine to provide children with both indoor and outdoor learning opportunities.

The butterfly room has its own yard for the children and educators to explore. The yard is set alongside a natural reserve where the children enjoying watching birds fly through the gum trees and local community members walk past with their pets. The yard is filled with natural elements such as sand and sensory gardens providing children opportunities to build on their physical strength and motor coordination.

The butterfly room has a number of cots for our youngest children to sleep in. Families are encouraged to bring comforts and sleeping aids such as sleeping bags and dummies from home to assist children to settle and sleep, educators also assist children with sleep routines. Older children in the room sleep on sleeping matts to support their transition to our toddler room, as well as assist their progression to a bed at home. Our sleep environment is soft and calming and all educators have undertaken safe sleep practices training.
